Facility Leader, Field House


The Montrose Recreation District (MRD) is accepting applications for the full-time Facility Leader position to provide evening management of the newly opened Montrose Field House (FH). This recruitment is happening at a very exciting time, as MRD just opened the Community Recreation Center and the Montrose Field House to better serve Montrose! Additionally, in 2019, the Connect Trail project will be built, which will connect Montrose from the Justice Center and the Colorado Outdoors Development to the north all the way south to the CRC.  MRD is a dynamic organization that been increasing its level of service.  The selected candidate will be centrally involved in helping us continue to maximize the quality and quantity of service for Montrose, to build community and better the Montrose quality of life.


The work schedule will be in the evenings (1pm to 9pm), four days per week plus one eight hour shift during the week, and on some weekends depending on facility needs.  Primary responsibilities include serving as the manager on duty (MOD) during the evening shifts at the Field House, working as the District Concessions Manager, and fulfilling a variety of functions such as front desk operations, facility rentals like birthday parties, maintenance and custodial.   In the summer, this includes serving as the lead lifeguard of the seasonal outdoor pool.  Lifeguard certification must be obtained by April 2019.


This is full time position that includes an annual salary of $34,000 to $36,000, a family pass to the CRC and FH, Paid Time Off (PTO), an excellent health insurance and dental plan, PERA retirement savings (13.7% of wage from paid by MRD) and other benefits.  Montrose is an up-and-coming, small, yet growing, western slope community complete with a tremendous quality of life, amazing access to outdoor (and now indoor) recreational amenities and an affordable cost of living.  For example, the median home in Montrose is $236,900, compared to the City of Denver where the median home is $416,100 (, August 2018).  EOE. 


Position Qualifications include: A bachelor degree from an accredited university and a driver's license are required.  Degrees in public administration, recreation management, and/or business marketing are preferred.  Also, candidates must possess a minimum of two (2) years of recreation experience including one year of administrative and/or supervisory experience.  Lifeguard certification must be obtained by April 2019.  The successful candidate will have excellent communication, organizational, writing and public relation skills, and be able to contribute strongly to the MRD's essential role in the community.
